The Curling team of host nation, Austria, for the Winter Youth Olympic Games (WYOG) 2012 is composed of Camilla Schnabel, Irena Brettbacher, Martin Reichel and Mathias Genner.

The team was chosen in spring 2011 during an open talent casting. After several squad camps and the participation in the international junior tournament in Füssen, the four athletes were nominated to officially represent Austria at WYOG 2012, at the end of 2011.

In the run-up to the Youth Olympic Games 2012, Mathias and Martin, both from Kitzbühel, could already gain experience with their junior team at the European Junior Challenge (both in 2010 and 2011) as well as at various other tournaments of the European Junior Champions Tour 2011.

Together with the females, Irena (visiting a sports high school in Tyrol) and Camilla (living in Sweden), they are really excited and highly motivated ahead of their appearance in Innsbruck.

Skip Mathias Genner and his team had a first successful interim result in Oberstdorf in December 2011, where they were runners-up in a junior tournament.

The team is coached by current Mixed European Championship runner-up Katja Weisser as well as Austrian national coach Rodger Schmidt.

Irena Brettbacher will be one of 6 YOG-athletes who will have the honour of carrying the Olympic flag during the official opening ceremony.
